Spiked Helmet and Panzer Stereoview Pics

I did my local antique store rounds today and came upon a couple of stunning WWI stereoview cards. There was actually a whole set, but I grabbed these two beauties (the ones I left were Allies/trench related- not as exciting but still neat).

First is a WW1 German tank, complete with camo & cross markings. The second one is a terrific group of early war German soldiers kitted up for inspection.

The truely coolest aspect of these is that I own a complete/working stereoview viewer from the turn of the century, so I can actually see these as they were meant to be seen!

    Enjoy,
    John

            Great find.
If you don't mind my asking, What did you pay for them? When my wife and I cleaned out her aunt's place after she died, I found a box with hundreds of cards. Several of them were of WW1 era US battleships and a lot of the Spanish-American war. However mine a more faded than yours.

Thanks Greg! I paid $5 each for these (unfortunately the seller wrote the price IN INK on the back of each one ).

I have a couple dozen of these, ranging from Swedish & Norweigan building/scenery subjects, to one with Teddy Roosevelt & family from around 1900.

Most bring $3-$10 on Ebay, with special historical & military subjects sometimes bringing much much more!

              Thanks again,
              John

                Nice images.

I found that if I stared at my monitor long enough & crossed my eyes slightly, I could merge the images together & see the stereo effect.

                Now I've got a headache.

                Thanks.

Paul- That is EXACTLY the effect I get when I look at these stereoview pictures in the original viewer!
