    Woundbadges in sterling silver?

My latest purchase is a cutout woundbagde in silver, sterling silver to be right, or maybe I should say: It's claimed to be sterling silver.
How do I tell if it's of sterling silver or not? It's cast and has the apperance of silver, and the oxcidiced areas look like the ones of other oxcidiced silver items (medals, forks etc). It's also thicker and heavier (about 3 gr. heavier) than my other cutouts.

The vertical pin in the hinge is flattened at one edge to make sure the pin stays in place, it's made just as a jeweller would do.

Can provide pictures if needed. Im certain that the badge is original and that it's not painted, it's just the way to tell silver from another "silverlooking" metal I'm looking for. No matter what metal it's made of, it was not expensive.

    Best regards,
    Henrik

    Well...

..... first off, Greetings & welcome to the Forum! Most silver WB's I've seen over the years will be marked somewhere with a content mark. It's often very small, but if it's 800 or higher silver content, it should be marked as such. "Nickel-Silber, or German-Silber", being of a higher nickel content, will not be marked. If there's no markings, you'll be hard pressed to "prove" it.

I agree with stogieman. Please post some pics and I'll check it and compare it with some silver ones I have. As stogieman knows, I have "some" silver ones...

Thanks for the informative answers guys! No stamps/marks as far as I can see. I'll take some pics in the morning and post as soon as possible.
