2 very interesting ribbon bars ...

at the update of mr. Bretzendorfers internet site, i found these two ribbon bars - and i really like them
the hessen mini clasp is really great and the bar of the iron halfmoon recipient could be also unique, or not?
i'm not one of those ranklist gurus - but i think we have some on the forum which can help

    so, now the incredible pics:

Very cool ribbon bars, Christian . I have never seen the "Für Tapferkeit"-device on a Hessian Bravery Medal before. VERY NEAT!!!

What is the 7th ribbon on the 1st bar?

        best,
        Gerd

Kingdom of the Netherlands, Order of Oranje-Nassau. If the bar is good, it may be researchable. There weren't alot of pre-war Oranje-Nassaus to German officers. The lack of other pre-war German state awards, though, may mean you can only narrow it down to a list of possibles, but others with more skill and resources may be able to work their magic.

                Hi Christian,

                niice finds!!!
That funny Hessen Device I´ve never seen before!

2nd one is also quite nice! What colors are the eagles? There is a hope if he continued in the Reichsheer.

                Best regards

                Daniel

I have looked in the Usual Places for the "NN4" (Inf Rgt 15 and all the XVIII Armeekorps regiments 1914) and found no ? Hessian natives (mounting precedence) who match. The Officer grade was given to Hauptleute, but the ones I've found would have come out as Majors aD with XXV Years Service Crosses...

in which case this is POSSIBLY a pre-1919 bar, though sewn on was quite unusual then for the army-- at least in this normal size.

You know what Luftwaffe retread (E) 18s "do" for me! --->

Despite starting Week Two of concussive bronchitis, I went through 1918 navy and 1924 Reichsheer-- no matches.

I'd say the first bar cannot be traced because ALL the other ribbons are wartime, with no post-1918 service, and the 18....

Maybe THAT one will turn up in a General's portrait, but am too sick to get much accomplished at the moment. Don't want to hack pfloogies all over the ancient expensive reference books.
