Mark . . . the device was 'unofficial but tolerated' in the 1920s and 1930s, you will see them mostly on Saxon ribbon bars. Earliest picture of one being shown is 1917. This device was more a fashion statement and like David says, mostly on Saxon ribbon bars. You can see them from time to time on bars from other states with this device too, but very rarely. Stogieman has one on the estand now, when i remember right.

Stogie-Rick had two on estand. He now has one. I got the Bavarian one.
I find this device fascinating, can't really explain why. It didn't start out to be a collecting theme, it just happened.Comment
