Yes, the 'translated' list says von Etzel but can you take a clear shot of the note itself?
Best case you have my grandfather's note. But it's real hard to see the original. This was put in a frame postwar by someone... I'd love to really see the document, the envelope and the postmark to see exactly when it was taken.
Best case it is my grandfather's but unfortunately, it's not a priceless piece of paper...
There were four brothers, Ernst, Otto, Guenther and August. ALL four were Division commanders at the same time. My mother THINKS based on what she heard and remembers that this was the only such occurence in the Prussian military in WWI (at least). Now, which one do you have...Last edited by Brian S; 03-07-2005, 08:36 PM.

The date is a tad confusing to what I thought I knew about him and the dates of his commands... According to my info he was commander of the Leibhusaran Brig until May 1915 when he took over the 3rd Cav Division. 1915 would make more sense.
In late 1914 looking at his photo album he was in a town that appears to be Wazneton. By January 1915 he was in Wierzfnia or something lke that. And by March in a town named something like Drolin.
His photo album changes to the 3.K.D. in Mai as you'd expect from my info.
The photo album ends in July 1915 and I have to go the box of singles to try and make sense of where he was in Dez. '15.
I'm guessing the postmark is 1915, not 1914.
I wish you'd take the thing out of the frame and let me have a decent photo of the doc!
