Brunswick Order of the Lion medalbar

The pictured bar contains from left to right: 1. Brunswick 1914 War Service Cross (Kriegsverdienstkreuz) on a non-combattant ribbon., Brunswick Order of the Lion Knight Cross 2nd Class w/o swords, 1914 EK2 on non-combattant ribbon, 1916 War Help Cross (Kriegshilfsdienstkreuz). I do not know the color of the back. This is a very rare combination. I understand that there were less then 1900 Brunswick Order of the Lion Knight Cross 2nd Class w/o swords awarded. I wonder if the award rolls exist. My quess is that the owner of this bar would be a doctor or some type of administrator as the length of service awards are missing. Any thoughts on the research possibilities for owner identification?

      Hi Paul,

What an exquisite small but beautiful Nichtkämpfer-Spange!

I don't think that it's researchable also if there are the award's rolls of the Hausorden Heinrich des Löwen. You might need at least two or three Orders in order to do a cross checking. A KVK 2. Kl. am Nichtkämpferband or a Kriegshilfskreuz couldn't be enough for a research... But I am not a specialist and I do not have the rolls of this order. However, I would only be proud to have like it is in my collection.

      My congratulations!

      Ciao,

      Claudio

Thanks Claudio and per "he who will not be named" this has zero chances of research. Too bad

          Claudio is correct. To bad.

Yet, the Lion piece should be made by Juergens. Very typical horse design. Any marks on it?

Really nice to see the Order of the Lion on a bar. Exceptional. I think one of the most attractive pieces.

                Henry the Lion group

                Hi Paul,

A nice group there. At first glance, the arrangement seems curious; but if you think it out, it makes sense.

To the questions that your presentation raise. I am sorry to say that there is not enough out of the ordinary to readily identify the recipient. From the foundation of the order in 1834 to the end in 1918, there were 1,837 knight 2nd class (without swords) awards. As has been pointed out by medalnet, your badge was produced by Hermann Jürgens who succeeded the Siebrecht firm in 1912. You will likely find an “HJ” mark on the reverse of the fan beneath the lion.

I hope that this is helpful and again, a nice group -
