    Austrian 1st Republic observer badge

    Hi Guys

I appreciate this isn't strictly speaking the correct forum but I have this posted in the International forum with zero replies. I am aware that some of you Guys on this forum know a lot about Austrian aircrew badges so was hoping that perhaps someone could give me some thoughts as to the originality or otherwise of this badge please?

    Many thanks

    Patrick

Looks good, Patrick! Only a small lot of these badges were awarded (and have a number stamped on the backside), this is one of the others.

thanks Peter, I found a couple of pictures of pilots badges but these 1st Republic examples appear to be extremely rare

        any idea on the value?

Here is one copyright WW2 Wings website- pilot denoted by propellor

            Hi again, Patrick!

You are right, these badges are really rare birds, because of Austria's rather small 1st-republic-airforce. On the other hand there's also only a small collector's community for these items.
Personally (but that's only MY opinion) I see the value by € 700 / 800. For an awarded piece (with "Matrikelnummer") around 1500.

            Best, Peter

As already mentioned in your other thread, I have to disagree with Peter, its a copy.
There are also pieces without a number, BUT every original badge has a screw on the back.

Also the logo of the marker looked in the 1930's different.

                Best regards,Stephan

Unfortunately I have to agree with Stephan! Without a number is no problem, without the screw is POST 1945.

                  Best, Peter
