    Prussian Crown Order 4th Class

I have a medalbar with the following for 4 medals: 1914 EK2 non-combattants, 1916 Kriegshilfsdienstkreuz (war help cross), Prussian Crown Order 4th Class, Prussian 25 Year Long Service Cross. I will post a picture later. My question is what might the crown order be given for, rank or bravery? What might be this persons rank or job?

    Service....

If he has a 25-Year Long Service, then he probably was awarded the PCO4 for "time-in". (I forget details) but, x number of years they get the PCO4, x-more and the RAO4 comes along...., etc.

          nice medal bar

and you see - the wartime awards are more important for him than the crown order for service years
i think they needed around 20 years for the crown order 4th class, aren't they?

EK and war aid cross as war decorations were worn in fromt of peacetime awards like the KO4 and the XXV.
In his case I think the XXV was a retractive awards from the early 20ies, because of the missing Centenary medal. Entered service in 1898, 15 years until 1914, WW1 time counted double, so 1914 to 1918 were already 10 years; so 25 years were full in 1918.
crown order was for sure a peacetime awwrd.

            Best regards

Good info, Daniel. When he would have gotten that CO in wartime, would that make a difference? (i mean the ribbon). I guess not, right?

              best,

Neat bar! The way I read the bottom one is to a senior-ranked Prussian Beamter, born @ 1860-70 (no LS medal nor HK,so not in uniform) who lost a son in WW1, but was still alive in 1936. The regs. said you could only wear one HK, but legitimate groups exist with both where one is a KIA cross.
