Hi, this is an American "gold for iron" ring, given out for Henry Mielke out in his phonograph/photography shop in New York City in 1914, for the war relief of Germany. It was given to people who donated their gold or silver to the old country.
Dem Alten Vaterland Die Treue zu beweisen Gab Ich in schwerer Zeit Ihm Gold fur dieses Eisen."
"For the old fatherland Loyalty to Show I Gave In difficult time. To him gold for this iron"
DHG (Deutsche Hilfe Gelsellschaft - German Aid Society )

Value wise, depends on the condition, the legibility of the legend and ring size.
The same design but on the shape of a flat brooch with pin, are a little more rare.
    Hope this helps!
