A great Wagner cross marked WS + 800

    Hi guys,

as i have free day off, i decided to take some nice pics of my latest addition.
A 'WS' marked Wagner EK1. It has an additional '800' mark on the pin.
I owned and handled many Wagner crosses but i have never seen a silver marked cross in combination with the regular maker mark. I heard from a fellow collector of another cross with a silver mark on the backplate.
Acoording to the seller, this cross comes out of the grouping of a high ranked Sachsen officer. Could this be a private purchase cross?

Hope you can enjoy it as much as i do.

                    Hi,

I suppose, that it is an awarded one, from the late war period. The "800" marking appeared in 1917 as indication for lower silver content. Earlier the EK of both classes were made of .935 silver.

                    Great cross, anyway

                    greetings
                    Tomasz

                          Very nice set.
WS crosses seem to develop a nice dark patina.

I was wondering if the '800' could relate to the pin only...
I don't feel the cross is different than other known early ones.

Thanks guys for all the input
