Luxury Wound Badge in Gold for review

    Dear All

I recently found a very nice GWB in unique form,
do you have any ideas for below informations?

    1. the material? Silver or tombak?
    2. the maker?
    3. when it was made, weimar or TR?

    thank you very much

    Hi Eric,

I have seen this pattern before on Imperial Silver wound badges in 800 silver. I believe a badge like this was in a recent auction.

Because of the reverse hardware, I have always wondered if this piece could be by Godet. I know that Godet has a different type of WB. But still... I've wondered.

You're right: I have to be more specific.

I meant J. Godet, who also made the oval-disc screwback.

                        Hi All
thank you for your comments and great examples.
I saw the one with "Silber" marking on MB's silver example.
but how about others without silver marking?
does my example (Without marking) a silver made example with gold finish?

                        thank you

The asterisk/star marking has been identified as being for Godet (on Imperial flying badges).

                            Interesting.

I thought the asterisk simply meant "not silver," and was used on many different makers' badges and awards. Is there a specific thread in which the connection to Godet was made?

                            Thank you in advance.

Nice WBs, noticed there's no weephole in Erics GWB. 'Silber' and 'asterisk' i usually connect to CF Zimmermann but their 'Silber' mark looks different, MB's one looks engraved. Since there was a clear connection between Gebr Godet and CFZ in WWII, one might wonder when it all started, maybe already J Godet had a thing for CFZ.
