I believe I know whom this medal came from, and I would 100% believe that he didn't know.

...hardly something a experienced collector should overlook.

The seller is not an experienced collector. He is a very nice guy, with a large collection, but really an enthusiast rather than an expert, and not one to deceive anyone intentionally.

Can only agree, seller and I, thanks to you guys advice, agreed on a partial refund and I'm happy I can finally add my first 1870 to my small EK collection

Hi,

I think I see the alphabet frame, see here:

For 500 euro's crosses in a better state (unrepaired) can be found. I do however like the looks on this one, but 500 is too much. When the repairs are done no-one knows.
