I have a general's shoulder board in my collection that I think might be traceable. It is a model 1915 subdued Hessian Generalleutnant, having red Hessian state color darts (Seidenfaden) in the matt gray cording, flanked on either side by gold cords. It has the cypher of the Inf.-Rgt. Kaiser Wilhelm (2.Großherzogl.Hess.) Nr.116 with the cypher, crown and pip being in matt silver. The backing cloth is white.
I have tried searching in the prewar Rangliste and the Ehren=Rangliste and though I can find some suspects, I am not sure that I am looking in the right place. Should I be looking for someone commanding a division in the XVIII Armee Korps or should I be trying to find a Generalleutnant that is à la suite to the 116th Inf. Rgt.?
Regards,
Chip
