iron cross 1st class & box-help needed

Is it possible to let me have your opinion on this medal and box. the medal is marked WS by the bottom catch. I cannot find any names on the box. Are they original?

Hello Andy,

I think the cross is ok, the case too only the padding inside the top lid appears to be missing as well as the covering over the catch mechanism under the felt in the bottom part. Can you take the felt base out? If so, is any maker code underneath?

The condition is not the greatest, but both pieces look quite real. WS is the maker mark of Wagner & Söhne, Berlin. A premium-quality jeweler.

Sorry the bottom of the box is stuck fast. The top of the box is a thick silk type cushioned finish. this has not come out too well in the picture. I think this is because of the flash. Do you consider the items go together?
