I have never seen one with that type of catch before but I like it

It reminds me of the catch used on the silver wound badge in this image which I have borrowed from the WB section of this forum. I have also seen the exact same catch as the one on your badge used to repair badges in WW2

Note also the type of pin on the gold wound badge in the image I have posted. It is the same type as on your pilot badge with a quality rounded end rather than a pin point.

Your pilot badge looks to be made of a good quality Nickel-silver and thus I wonder if its pre-November 1918 ?

This type of catch was used on some Freikorps awards like the Bug stern as shown. But, a lot of Freikorps fakes have the same catch.

By the way, Don, this Bug stern is a fake.

Thanks Brian. I will point out that the catch you posted is made of thinner metal than the one I posted and the badge in the original post. I actually like the original badge that started this thread but the catch still scares me.
