Gold wound badge for review

Hi. What are your thoughts on this one? It looks awefully pristine. Good or bad?

Too hard to say from the pics. It looks cleaned, but whether it has also been stripped from a black I can't tell. If the base-metal is steel then it may be a nice Gold. If the basemetal is tombak then it could be either - depends on whether there is genuine gold finish present.

It's a Schickle type and I personally believe they used this gold finish in the late '30s or so. But others have seen my badge (below right) and said they think it's refinished. So it's sort of a guess.
