Austrian Ring?

I've been offered this Austrian ring, but do not know much about the symbolism of this particular red cross. Any thoughts or insight? Thanks in advance! :-)

Hello,

this ring has no apparent connection to Austria, besides the "1914-1915" years, that saw the Austrian Empire in war.

The red enamelled cross doesn't resemble any symbol of Austria's honours.

The inner surface of the ring is struck with marks: it would be interesting to see a better picture of them, in order to try identifying where the ring was made.
