    Castle visits Germany

    Dear collectors and colleges ..

I visited 2 castle's in Germany last week ,,,,as you can see here .
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=751934
    and here
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=751935

the castle names are Burg Eltz and Reichsburg Cochem .

Castle Eltz is a amazing experience,,,
After a 1.1 KM walk on foot ,throe the most amazing mountain woodland you turn around the corner only to see the best view ever on a astonishing castle ..

A castle never plundered and always in hand of the same family.
A castle wel preserved in mint condition with a full treasure room and armory intact and in display for the visitors .

not al to commercially exploited ,not al to much tourists,,not to expensive .
And best of all ,,the place breathing out the 1500 to 1800 ages ..

    crazy place

the Reichsburg Cochen is in my ayes a commercial trip only ..

In the middle of a tourists bottle neck you get flushed away by waves of tourists and cheap memorabilia plastics sale's around these times ..

    the castle
blown to peaces in 1600, only to be rebuild in the 18/1900 by a French rich guy ..

it absolutely has no wind's coming out of the middle ages no more .

not much to see fore weapon and treasure interested inside..( some nice items hanging on the wall do

if you would pay fore a tour around there ,,a few living rooms and lots of old oak you will see fore sure.
the tour Gide is wryly doing its best to make it interesting .

    regards monty

Burg Eltz is awesome! I was there about 3 weeks ago, loved all the weapons and the tour was really interesting. My two kids were nightmares, but that is another story. Great castle and my favorite one we have seen thus far. Matt

                  Hello Montgomery

                  hello all

I also like the Castle "Burg Eltz" a lot

This castle was shown on the former 1000 German Mark bill.

Let me add some images from my visit also not long ago.

                  Hope you like them

This castle was shown on the former 1000 German Mark bill.
On the 500 Mark Bill, the Burg Eltz was shown. It stands for the german knightliness.

On the 1000 Mark Bill, the Dom of Limburg was shown. Standing for the romanic art of construction. Today it could also stand for T. van Elst.^^
