          Hi Don!

Nice representation of Imperial there! Be careful, our affliction is extremely contagious once you leave the realm of "The Dark Side" of collecting militaria!

I like to dabble. If I could just stay away from PABs.

                    Hi Don,

You have got off to a nice start. This also happened to me by accident when I realised that I didn't know many of the awards given to the men whose paperwork I collect. Before you know it, you will probably find yourself trying to find an example of the common bravery or merit awards from each of the states that made up Imperial Germany. They are not too hard to find and offer much more variety that their counterparts from the 39-45 period.

Some of them are a lot less common than even the highest Third Reich awards, but still don't seem to attract the same collector attention. Given the prices and widespread faking among stuff from the Dark Side, this seems to be changing.

Have you started to be tempted by medal bars yet? They can be quite addictive, too. My main interest is documents, but it is nice to have some of the awards to go with them. The picture below shows what can happen when you start to covet Imperial medal bars.

                    All the best,

                    David

Nice collection, Don. Thats a good start. You have already the most Imperial EK-Equivalents of the states. The Gallipoli Star looks nice, do you have a closeup and who is the maker?

                      best,
                      Gerd

Gerd, the Gallipoli Star is by BB&C. I'll have to take some pics when I get a chance.

                              Don,

A great start there...I really have enjoyed getting back into collecting German awards after having sold and traded off my collection about 10 years ago or so...Imperial is definitely where it's at...the awards are so attractive and the combinations for medal bars, etc seemingly endless. The only problem...there are so many nice things to chase after it keep you poor... Poor but happy mind you!

                              Cheers,

                              Adam
