    Cased Medal bar group.

    Hi guys,

I've recently won this at auction--- it was a low, throw away bid that boomeranged

I don't have any major concerns (the Green backing appears replaced), but I rarely (never) buy cased items. Does it look okay to you guys???

    Any thoughts?

I'm excited to see what's hidden under the green.

    Cheers,

    Jamie

If the case proves to be dodgy, fine; the purchase was price was reasonable.

    Thanks.

      Nice score Jamie
I would say your guess is right on the case ,as it looks rather rough for a jeweller presentation case. Most probable that it was a conversion by the vet/or family to keep the awards in.
Nice grouping of awards, always been a big fan of the EK2/FKEK 2er bars

      Cheers from across the ditch,
      Scott

        Thanks mate,

I'm a sucker for sets like this too. I recently promised myself not to buy anymore EK2/Hindy bars--- but I can't help it.

I'll take pictures of the inside of the case when it arrives--- at the moment these are the only pictures I have. The awards look to be very clean.

But for 71 euro--- I reckon it's okay, I'll utilize the case anyhow, it seems to be what the previous owner/holder/family wanted, so I'll leave it be (although the green is hideous).

        Cheers,

        Jamie

Jamie, your right there the green has to go "hell the men who fought wore Field grey". The green material looks like it could be re-used "snooker table felt??"
The EK2 looks to be a nice early one from the photo, 71euro not bad for the grouping.

I'm slightly baffled, but working through it

So you've seen another case like this, and it was used for a spoon set???

I'm not surprised, the Green felt lacks a certain authenticity. I'm interested in seeing what is beneath. My Pops medals were kept in an old jeweler box which had nothing to do with manufacture, sometimes it's not about that.

When I bought the lot I was hoping the case wouldn't make it to expensive. Luckily for me others had misgivings about the case too.

The Green is beginning to grow on me now

Cheers and thanks for your thoughts.

                Jamie.

BTW Framed... I love your style

                  .

Don't stress man--- nobody is applauding fakers.
If the case had any chance of being real it would've gone for more, and maybe I would've stayed awake for the auction.

However, I don't know anything about cases, so I posted it here--- or maybe I should just throw it out without asking???

Either way I'm happy with the job-lot + price, even if it didn't originate from one veteran, as few groupings do (I don't have any illusions that people mix and match)

So chill dude, all is good.

Thanks for your input and concern.

                  Cheers,

                  Jamie

one or two info's about etui's

jewellers did not make etui's ..

they ordered at company's like the one on the picture ..
                          founded at 1886 ,,,,,catalogue from 1928 ..

so what ever you see on the marked would have craftsmanship and industrialisation quality ....

no less ,, fine inlets ,fine fabric ,fine finish and no cut out paper iron crosses glued on the top ,,,

(ps ,,halb etui are not a thing from the late WW2 due shortish of valuable metals .
if you can read the advertisement in german .)

                            green etui's

The collar green is mostly used in combination of Schützenvereinen,,shooting organisation ,,

                            go's way back to 1700.

so if a etui having green inlets its mostly something to do with that .
