    Did anyone see something like this before?



    My first thought was thats maybe for a shoulder board. The Infanterie Regiment 116 had a similar "badge" an his shoulder bords. But this one was to small...

      You didn't give the size, but as you say, it doesn't look right for an officer's shoulder board device. Normally (but not always), the crown and the cypher are separate pieces.
