I have spoken to the owner now and he messured it and it is for sure a EK2.
But interesting "covertment" to a Grand cross.
But the Grand cross from Norway posted here last week is so much better
It's possible that the original awardee had an EKII converted for wear in the field and kept his original Grand Cross safe at home, so not loose or damage his awarded cross. I have read somewhere that some RK awardees from WWII did the same thing. But I could be wrong... wouldn't be the first time for me. Just my opinion

There were only five recipients of the Grand Cross and they were all extremely high ranking generals or royalty. Also the Grand Cross was about twice the size of an EK2 (in area) compared to the 1939 Knight's Cross, which was only 4mm larger than an EK2. For these reasons I suspect that no one wore an EK2 as a "field GK." My guess is that a collector had a display of EKs and wanted this one to stand in for a GK, which he didn't yet have
