I have had this in my box of unknown items for many years and have never for sure figured out what it is. I received it, along with a WWI German helmet from my piano teacher when I was in middle school back in the 1960s. Her father was in WWI and they left Germany in the 1930's. One thing I remember distinctly was a picture of Bismarck hanging in the living room.
I think it is a key chain or a something for a pocket watch. But I don't know if the ribbon is real, if the veteran had it made, or what? The Iron Cross is 25mm across and looks like it is metal rather than silver. The whole thing is 90mm from the top of the ribbon to the bottom of the cross.
Also, are these collectable or just a novelty that doesn't have much value.
Thanks for your opinions.
