    German WW1 Discushandgranate question

I was looking at one of these on a UK dealers website and it shows a diagram of how it was supposed to work. Were these successful? The whole concept seems unlikely to me unless there were specially trained throwers.

( I'm not thinking of buying it as it seems overpriced @ £175.)

Here is a site that talks about these grenades and others: http://www.lexpev.nl/grenades/europe...anate1915.html

They were developed for use in areas like the Somme which was a morass of water, mud and water filled shell holes. If thrown properly they would skip along until they hit something solid and detonated. The concept is sound but whether it worked or not I can't tell you.
