I've been off the forum for a while and I only just found this thread by accident. The news hit me in the guts. I hadn't communicated with Rick for ages but I still remember early online discussions, his amazing Imperial knowledge and research abilities and his passion for outing bad ribbon bars.

My respects to his family.

Rick is a huge loss to the collecting community but will be well remembered.

Prosper Keating styles himself an erudite yet, in reality, he is nothing more than a blowhard buffoon. He has often held differing views not because they are correct, but mostly to be antagonistic in an effort to call attention to himself. You see, in his mind, he is a force to be reckoned with. Sadly for him, it is only in his mind that he is so. Perhaps the fact that he is not held in high esteem (or that people don't bow to his brilliant mind) is a constant source of humiliation and frustration for him. Although he is of above-average intelligence, he has undoubtedly been a failure in his professional life and that has caused him to incessantly lash out at the world in disrespectful belligerence. He feels cheated by an unjust world so he insults and attacks. Like an insolent child who, in a temper tantrum frenzy, screams out loud either to be noticed or to create discomfort, the best response is to shrug one's shoulders and ignore him. It is unfortunate that Rick's thread had to be sullied with the feces that PK has always intentionally represented and offered as his contributions.

Walter you nailed it. This guy is one certified lunatic, If Nick had any balls he would have turfed that clown years ago. Of course he's so scared s h i tless of this asswipe he wont do anything. Oh well. He looks good where he's at.

In his anger, and in his mis-spelling of an italian word, he forgets -for instance- that one of the greatest Italian musicians of the 18th Century, Benedetto Marcello, called himself "dilettante in contrappunto". The works of this Venetian dilettante are now pillars in the history of music.

What Mr. Lundstrom did for the collecting community, will be considered as pillars in the history of phaleristic.

Rick was a great and honorable man. I really liked him so much and he was so helpful to me in my early quests in learning about my family roots.

What a brilliant researcher. He had an uncanny ability to read the most horrible Sutterlin. I dreamed of having him visit me and spend a week deciphering what I will never be able to read.

His roots go back to the earliest in American history.

I will miss you Rick. You wonderful guy.

Jesus, I've been away from the site for a while and I've just seen the terrible news of Ricks tragic passing.

Like everyone else, Rick helped me out when I began collecting and I read many of his posts. Even though I only knew him virtually, his presence will be greatly missed.

As they say, the measure of a person is the amount of people that remember them, I think from the posts here that Rick has great measure..

My sincere condolences to his family and friends..
