Here is what Prosper Keating [ http://www.thepeopleilike.com/?p=1109 ] had written as "anonymous" in his WCStump site. Keating was banned from the genlemen forum because he accusated Rick Lundstrom faking the provenance of Models medalbar.
This fukcing idiot lets not even the dead be resting in peace. His wife Odille Gilbert should throw his dirty ass out. He only lives to **** on peuple.

The usual thing people do when someone dies, is praise them, and pretend they never did anything wrong.
Lundstrom was human and put his pants on one leg at a time. When he failed at becoming a real academic, he later tok to the internet where amateurs and wannabes abound. He spent far more time trying to impress the on-line community with his second hand knowledge from previous works of others, than actually publishing real original research of his own. He was not a true scholar. He was closer to the original and kinder meaning of the word, dilletante.
HIs impact on the collecting community is entirely contemporary, and with a new generation of collectors he'll become a footnote in the history of the hobby.
When he died in a car crash, it was because he pulled into oncoming traffic and was broadsided by another vehicle. He apparently didn't look well enough when he made his fateful turn. His death was because he made a bad mistake and because he didn't really take the time to look before acting. He died because of mistakes he made and that should be a reminder for those who tend to forget he might have known quite a lot about an obscure topic compared to the larger world, and in many other areas, he was as error prone as the rest of the world.
Adios Rick.

Someone should propose Lundstrom for the Darwin awards, since he managed to kill himself by doing something stupid. The criteria of not leaving any personal progeny behind, killing only yourself in the act, and thereby removing just your genetic material from the gene pool means he qualifies for nomination criteria. I doubt he'd win, although the people who are currently proclaiming him a genius would find it infuriating that anyone would point out how incredibly stupid Lundstrom could be at times.

...and there you have it folks.
I always suspected Prosper bothered Rick out of egomaniacal jealousy and if that really was his posting, well that is the character of the man.
I consider PK a wannabe.
Pathetic .
I Hope the British Motorbike Association that just booted him out sues him for defamation.
my obit of Rick is at The Kaisers Cross website. Have a look.
By the way, the intersection where Rick was killed is notorious for traffic coming around the bend into Main Street. A number of people have been killed there over the past decades and given the tiny population of his town, that is saying something. The Massachusetts State Police now are investigating whether the oncoming car s driver who hit Rick was going 40 miles ABOVE the speed limit and texting.

if ,someone dies,, respect is in order.
if , one didn't like the deceased ? that is OK, but again ,,you take respectful distance.
in general WCS is pointing out things on its blog who are in essence proving the missing scientific evidence most have to work with .
( sadly )
sometimes its very costly and hard to accept,
sometimes it is very hard defended and not always rightfully.
(especially in the world war2 aria it can be vicious. )
and sometimes its exploited .
WCS sadly short circuit in his quest to point out what is very hard to change
and got cast out .
by his disrespectful words towards the deceased
his own chances to be taken seriously became unrealistic.
I read anger and frustration in Wiliams Stump words.
reading his words I think William has a lot to carry around.
that it had to come to that is a very sad story in its own.
Forgiveness is my motto ,,,

Prosper Keating styles himself an erudite yet, in reality, he is nothing more than a blowhard buffoon. He has often held differing views not because they are correct, but mostly to be antagonistic in an effort to call attention to himself. You see, in his mind, he is a force to be reckoned with. Sadly for him, it is only in his mind that he is so. Perhaps the fact that he is not held in high esteem (or that people don't bow to his brilliant mind) is a constant source of humiliation and frustration for him. Although he is of above-average intelligence, he has undoubtedly been a failure in his professional life and that has caused him to incessantly lash out at the world in disrespectful belligerence. He feels cheated by an unjust world so he insults and attacks. Like an insolent child who, in a temper tantrum frenzy, screams out loud either to be noticed or to create discomfort, the best response is to shrug one's shoulders and ignore him. It is unfortunate that Rick's thread had to be sullied with the feces that PK has always intentionally represented and offered as his contributions. When you go home
Tell them for us and say
For your tomorrow

Hear,Hear Walter.
I reckon Rick would have appreciated your post and had a hearty laugh in agreement.
'anonymous' as usual mixes a few half truths with inventive, threat and misinformation. Rick did more original research than the original Seymour group combined.
How do I know? Because I saw the notes, the notebooks, the scraps of envelopes with jottings from 1950 that Rick systematically organized , catalogued and cross referenced. Also, Tony Colson said as much to me here on the WAF and so did others who shall remain anonymous.
Rick also served as a fulcrum point for other researchers across the globe. Men like Andy,Duncan, Gordon, Glenn, Paul, David, Jani, Daniel, Dietrich, Eturen, Horace, Mike, Dave and Paul all did a ton of research on their own, but Rick tied it together.
The last time I saw Rick I gave him an obscure reprint of the original Lagansalza book which included rosters of Prussian officers killed, wounded and captured during the fortnight s war with Hanover in 1866. Rick began to cross reference those officers into the 1870 list. Thats the sort of thing he did for fun.
A couple of years ago after the notorious Pennsylvania Medal/ Gun Show incident, where someone unnamed (but not un photographed by the guy at the table kitty corner) left a series of threatening notes and print outs of PK's on-line editorializing ( including all sorts of approving references to 'Nationalist European political parties, which we interpreted as LePen/Golden Dawn etc.) Rick went apoplectic. I had a 30 minute conversation with him in the parking lot in Boxboro one Sunday morning about how he should not quit research and why it made no financial sense to sue.
If Rick was your friend he had your back. He had a very deep sense of loyalty and expected reciprocal treatment. this is one of the reasons Rick left the WAF.
Rick liked almost everyone here on the WAF ( the only person I ever heard Rick say he did not like was Willy Zahn and that was because Rick thought him too aggressive with some novice/ annoying collectors.
Rick also told me he thought Willy was ' probably the sort of guy you want on your side in a gun fight ' (...and I would agree).
If you had met him (Rick) I reckon you'd have liked him too.

Coming into this thread really late, I know, but I only just heard the news. (I've been on something of a hiatus as a collector as of late, and haven't spent a lot of time wandering my old internet haunts.) I never met him personally, as we happen to live on opposite sides of the continent, but I owe him a tremendous amount. In a world where a lot of collectors view this stuff in the same light as stocks and bonds, purely financial, he was a man who delved into the history of it all and gave it life. He helped me out countless times in the decade or so that I've known him online, fielding even the dumbest of my questions with genuine patience. He was a true gentleman.

I did not know the man but it's one thing to criticize the man when alive and able to defend himself but attack the man after he is dead and cannot defend himself is despicable. I believe if you can't say something good about a person then keep your trap shut and say nothing. Just my opinion. Rest in peace Rick..... Harold
