Terrible news.....Rick was a wealth of information as some of the "oldies" will remember and left the forum some years ago.

I believe he was still active on GMIC but I have not been in touch with him for at least a year......

Very sad news. Rick was active at GMIC - just a few days ago we exchanged a few comments about my Tamara ribbon bars. I always amazed the extent of his knowledge as well as his endless will to share a generous help. A terrible loss for whole collecting community. Deepest condolences to his family.

It is with a heavy heart that I must inform this board of the untimely death of one of its moderators - Rick Research. Rick died in a car crash today, sideswiped by a pickup truck while on an errand at 11am this morning, Sept 17, 2013. I know this will come as a great shock to all members, and it is a great loss to the group. I was a long time friend of Rick's and part of his traveling museum. This post is made at the request of the family. No arrangements have been made as of yet.

Rick was a very early contributor to this forum. I first met him here and over the many years we became close friends. Rick was always willing to help the new collectors and share his knowledge. I will always be grateful for his mentoring, but more so for his friendship.

Rick was always willing to help me with identification, translation, anything. He didn't care if you were a novice as long as you had a genuine interest in the material. It is sad that we have lost some great contributors to the forum recently, Dave Kane and Rick for dying too soon, and people like NTZ who have moved on from the hobby. RIP, Rick.

Very sorry to read this news. Rick and my father were close collecting friends, writing back and forth on a weekly basis for years before my father's passing. My condolences to his family.

No public funeral or visiting hours per Rick V.. There will be a private cremation. the old Yankee families are very private people.
There is a brief article on the crash in the Worcester (Ma.) Telegram and Gazette.
Please do not repost it here. The picture is bad enough.

A condolence card can not hurt to his Mum, Ms. M. Lundstrom.
