    New Halbmond addition

One of my favourite Halbmonds is one that I have never seen the like of before. Very thin, high quality with horizontal pin. Then just last week I found another!

Is has some variation...no rivets, not as detailed on the date but undoubtedly from the same maker. It has a few chips but I love it.

The new one is on the stand.

Thanks Demir. Nice to know it is appreciated by at least one other person.

It is a very nicely made piece. I'm sure they are both from silver but I can't find a marking anywhere.

The mahlas (pseudonym) and the date on the left one resembles J.H.Werner-Berlin.
Can you share a new photo of that one, both sides, so we can see the shape of the enamel and count the rivets.

        Regards

          Hi,

I cannot reply with a justified opinion, as I never extended my knowledge to these badges. That aside I like them both! As both badges appear to be manufactured by the same maker why is one riveted and the other not? Was that optional at purchase or is just one badge older?

          Thanks,
          Michel

Demir, definitely not a Werner unless they had more that one style. Here's the thread for the one with rivets:

I wish I knew. Even when looking at maker marked pieces, you see variation within the same makers in terms of rivets, how much hand finishing, etc. Although I would venture to say the pattern within the star does not vary (from what I have seen).

              Hi Rich,
I said "The mahlas (pseudonym) and the date on the left one RESEMBLES J.H.Werner-Berlin" that was the reason why I asked you to share the photo of the obverse. Yes, pattern within the enamel is not JHWerner.

I tried to load some more Werner pictures in order to show the resembles and rivets but I couldn't, I think my membership status do not allow me to do so.

              Regards

Nice examples Rich. I love the variety of these but they are becoming a minefield.

Yes they are becoming a minefield. It seems anything that becomes popular is suddenly heavily reproduced. I believe collectively we can stay on top though by sharing info here. You just have to look on eBay.de for the latest repros. Did you see the recent update at house of History? Biggest update of repro TWM's I have ever seen. That's what happens when you don't stay on top of it, or more likely he knows...

I just looked more closely at the two and have only just noticed that the inlay design beneath the enamel is slightly different on each, as are the design of the date/tundra etc. I have no doubt they are from the same maker but looks like the add on pieces were hand made each time and the inlay individually worked. So they are kind of bespoke each time. They are very classy, even if I may say so myself. I would love to see another.
