EK2 Maker Mark - Help Please

    Hi,

The maker's mark on this EK2 is poorly struck or worn; any ideas on who it is? SW? M?

    Thanks for your help!

    Best regards,
    Steve

    Steve,
Looks very much to be an "SW" ,but as noted not very cleanly struck.
    Nice looking cross though

Looks more like an "IW" - the first character is way too straight for an S.

        Scott & Mike,

Thanks very much for your assistance; it is indeed difficult to make out that first letter!

PS: "LW" may be another possibility.

Agree with Mike, from the space between the "I" and the "W" this may well be a "LW".

The mark presumably stands for the Berlin Hofjuwelier (court jeweller) Louis Werner who supplied the Prussian GOK with 2nd class crosses.

References: Wernitz' EK book, pt. 1, page 374.
