Bavarian MVO 4. Klasse for review

Friday´s flea market pickup. The MVO 4th class with swords and crown is marked JL for Jacob Leser Straubing. Separate gold medailons and 900 silver cross (both materials tested by my court jeweller). Blue enamels are quite damaged, but central disc is untouched. Still very collectible order, IMO.

As these pieces are not very seen on internet, I would like to confirm the authenticity of the order and market value in this condition.

    Thanks in advance, Miro

It is a good one. early piece. not often to get but it has some big enamel hits.

typical order for captains and majors.

            Thanks for your response, römischIX.

What do you mean by "early"? Early ww1 or early after 1866?

Thank you, I tried google, but google is full of 4th classes without crown or 3th classes. I found only two crowned pieces with price. One was sold year ago on Hermann Historica for 1.200 euros, but it was on medal bar with EK. The second one was sold in 2005 on eBay for 970 euros, but it was Gebruder Hemmerle.

Apart from this, both pieces were in top condition, and I would like to know how much this enamel damaging lowers the price of my specimen.

              Best, Miro

the piece was made in 1914/1915 in my opinion.

with this condition i would think ~ 600 EUR.

I had a hard time selling mine and it only had a minor enemal damage. I think 600 is too high, I got around 300 for mine.

The damages are very annoying, so I think it is very difficult to sell this MVO.

I completely agree with you. In this condition, nearly impossible to sell it in the nest of MVO´s, where you come from.

But Weitze would say: Zustand 2-

The 4th class, replacing the older "knights cross 2nd class" wasn't insituted until 1905, so cannot be older than that.

What does the purity mark on the "Agraffe" read? I doubt it's the "900" you said before. Should be "980" or "950"...

I agree 300 Euro is very little, but it's also true they don't sell well if badly damaged.
