              Hallo Stahlhelm,

let me give it a try .....

" To my dear Coporal ..........

in memory of the errors (Irrwege) when stationed at the border 1908 - 1910

              .............

2nd Lt - Bavarian Inf Rgt No 8

The picture had been taken in Metz (Elsass) and it seems as if this Lt is

referring to some reconnaissance missions when they got lost ....

Elsass became "Reichsland" (State Territory) after 1871 and thus you

find troops from about any kingdom in Germany ....

even my dear grandfather had been stationed there !

Regards to Texas (I had been in Ft Woltors)

              Wolf

                hi Stahlhelm.

                don't get me wrong .....

"b. InfRgt No 8" could also read : "badisches InfRgt No 8" ...

let the uniform specialists determine ......

                Regards

                Wolf

Lt. Johannes Müller. In the 1909 Bavarian Militär-Handbuch, he was a Lt. in the 8.Kompanie. According to the Ehrenrangliste, he died just before the war, on 17 May 1914.

                      I read

"... in Erinnerung an die Wacht an der Grenze.." - in memory of the guard/watch at the border

Thanks Uwe. Now the question becomes: Which Muller is it?
