Cross is original Deumer for sure.

Quality of this cross reminds me of my early 57-er more than TR era piece, but I can be wrong.

Why would a 57 issue cross have an LDO mark on it?

spare parts ? left overs ?

nicer for the collecting GI's ?

              or just !,,,,,,,,,WY not ....?
              its a quality standard.

Deumer was a member of the special leistungsgemeinschaft and they're quality standards ,,,

they had to work for it.

that may not be stopped after 1946 ?

not a forbidden Nazi party,,,but a display of quality ?

Could you both post the weight, of the 57 and the 14?

                Best regards,
                Michel

Kai is right, both Deumer and S&L used wartime parts and leftovers for their 57 issue crosses.

ThatĀ“s why early Deumer 57 EK2s are marked 3 and EK1s are still marked L/11.

Left over parts I can agree with. That makes it a period cross, post war assembled from period parts. As for using the LDO marks on new post war production, I have my doubts.

L/11 marked 57er EK1s and EK2s marked for both 3 and 4 are well known and 100% period originals. 0% doubt in my mind. My own L/11 EK1 is from the estate of an Oakleaves General.

I agree, there would be no need to apply defunct LDO markings to items MADE in the late 1950s.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

                        Mike is right,

Those LDO markings were applied on the back plate of the cross during war, when it was separate part.

Nobody knew in that moment, whether that back plate would be used for wartime 39er, postwar 14/57er, or postwar 39/57er.

Deumer crosses made from these LDO marked leftovers are very early 57er pieces, quite rarity that reaches price around 100 - 150 euros on eBay.

Nobody stamped awards with LDO marks after war and I donĀ“t know another postwar producer to have LDO marks on their leftover pieces except Deumer.

here we have 2 1957 with L11 mark

                          collectors say,,,:
its impossible to have a L11 mark on 1957 crosses put there by the maker after 1945 . ?

evidence shown here opens all possibility;s to be possible... if you asking me .

do we have to fill it in ? if we just don't know ....?

I would say ,stay open minded ,maybe these 1957 deumers holding surprises in the future.

Yes, everything is possible. 1957 law had forbidden only swastika, not LDO marks...

Btw, I opened the thread in 1957 section about this cross, so we will have more opinions from 1957 side of the hill.
