Wow that's a nice piece, especially with engraving. Always adds more historical value to the piece

Most collectors of these badges would say that this is not a period badge. These are the badges that usually sport a crown mark along side the crescent and 800,this does not have one but has all the same traits as the bogus badges. These are seen alot and quite often with a bogus engraving on to hike the price up. It may be (at best) that a small nucleus of these were produced in the 1930's-40's but they have been so reproduced that most are almost certainly copies. Sorry. Ferg

Of course Ferg's correct , as always. I believe I saw this type of repo in one of my many books/articles on Imperial aircrew badges. I'll look & post a photo as soon as I can.

I agree with fergus and it is certain not a period Juncker badge and i have doubts about the engraving. In this combination i would never buy a badge like this.

          Sorry

              copy

Some of the leading names in this field answered you above. All I can add is the fact that the "sharpness of detail" as you put it is NOT there - some of the details are missing all together- like the two line "walkway" in front of the buildings to the center/right. The copy you show is known as the "extra berry" variety and is pictured as such on page 25 of the fantastic tome by S. Previtera.
Also you might want to re-check the weight of it- 6.8g is usually half of the hollow badge (not that it will change what it is but still).
              cheers

Just one quick glance at the maker mark and it's easy to see its a copy. No need to look at any other details. The size, the font ... all wrong.

I think the Juncker period badges are good documented and several time published. Plenty of badges of this maker are here presented.

The sources are mentioned here Previteras book "Imperial sky, Carstens Baldes new book.

You should use the forum search and you will find a couple of Juncker badges and no one looks like yours exept the known copies.

You can accept this facts of not but this don't change anything.

                    Regards

                    Alex

I agree. Carsten's book is a great source of information. He goes into detail on the markings and how to determine what is real .. and what isn't.

                        another

Here is another of the same fake- as we can see the engraving is something that varies from badge to badge but the front stays the same- copy.
                        cheers
