    Unusual EK maker?

    Hello,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

Does anyone know this maker? <o></o>

It looks like L V and there are 2 more stamps, one of them could be S. Is it a rare maker?

    <o></o>

I’m sorry about the crappy pic of the ring but I couldn’t get it any better.<o></o>

    Any comments are appreciated.

    <o></o>

    Cheers

    <o></o>

    Tony

Nice cross The makers L, V and LV are listed as unknown makers on Tony and Kaisers EK list. Regards Chris

Early crisp stike, ekii's may be common but these crispy ones are great.

                Hello Brian,

An early strike, how can you tell?

                Cheers

Well I can't for sure and there are plenty of folks here who will enforce the idea that I'm dumb as a post, but, it's a clean crisp EKII and as many of these as were pressed, the dies wore down. Yours shows a great deal of details which to me, again dumb as a post, indicates an early cross from that particular die. Might be a 1918 cross but to me, an early die strike. My grandfather's first EKI was very thin and more crude in the numerals than yours. So I wouldn't say this is an early 1914, just an early die strike.
