Why are you comparing bearded faces all looking the same? I take a look at the awards and see it cannot be Manteuffel. No idea who it is - but it's not him!

Hopefully Daniel Krause takes a look here.

well all I can see is:

PlM - RAO 1 with X on ring - commander Eisernes Krone (KuK) - commander Zahringen Lowe - commander Militar Verdienste Kreuz (KuK) (?)

                Spange: EK 2 1870 - RAO 3 with X (on a EK ribbon) - KO 3 with X (on a EK ribbon) - Peter Friedrich Ludwig order (?) - 1870-71 medal - 1866 cross - (?) - (?) - (?)

on brest: EK 1 1870 - Albrecht Bare brest star (?)

very highly decorated man. His ID must be somewhere...

                  nice pic!

                  ID is quite simple.
Have a look in the Prussian ranklists between 1875 to 1880 for a Divisional Commander with the plm, Red Eagles and Crown Order with swords and the quite rare star of the Anhalt the Bear Grand Commander.

                  Lots of greetings
                  Daniel

                    Hello Daniel,
it would be simple indeed if I had any ranklist...
If you have one may you take a look for me? I'd be very thankful!

Btw I was thinking that it might be Gustav Freiherr von Buddenbrock... He is not very simillar from face but awards mainly matches:

I have to agree with Borzadow. I think most of us do not have the chance to check the Prussian

Rank Lists 1875 - 1880. So, Daniel if you have theses rank lists please check them. It could be

                      helpful.

I can't tell what is below the Iron Crown, but it is not a Zaehringen Lion. The commander's badge below that is the Danish Order of the Dannebrog.

I would say this is char. Gen.d.Inf. Franz von Zychlinski (1816-1900). He retired in 1880 as commander of the 15.Division in Köln am Rhein. His awards in the 1880 rank list: plM, RAO2EStXaR, RAO4X, KO3X, EK1&2, DA, AB2aX, DD2a, HP2b, ÖEK2K, RSt2, SA2b. His Red Eagle was later upgraded to 1st Class and then Grand Cross.

Based on his service, I would guess the medals on the medal bar after the DA-Kreuz are:

                        • 1870-71 Kriegsdenkmünze
                        • 1866 Königgrätz-Kreuz
                        • 1864 Kriegsdenkmünze
                        • 1849 Hohenzollern'sche Gedächtnismedaille
                        • 1849 Badische Gedächtnismedaille (note the Baden-style ring)

                        Regards,
                        Dave

                            Franz von Zychlinski

Dave is absolutely correct. The same portrait of General v. Zychlinski appears on page 90 of volume 8 Priesdorff's Soldatisches Führertum.
