a "bigger" size case for a Iron Cross 2nd class

    Hi guys

I can buy this "bigger" size case which is for an Iron Cross 2nd class. There is also space to keep some paperwork.

This one is bigger than the ones they used in WW2. Are these bigger case a bit special or the normal type ?? What would be the value ??

Others are more expert than I on these.

But, I'd say it's a converted jewelry case of some sort; a popular pastime with eBay sellers and other unscrupulous people trying to make money at any cost.

        That's my opinion too!

        Kind regards, Peter

I agree, a cutlery case someone reworked into an EK case. I would say the value is about $10 as a display piece, although you couldn't pay me to have it in my collection.
          Best regards,

One guy in particular has been funkifying cases for the last ten years on ebay.de. Usually he had awards in them too, and some looked pretty good (aesthetically).

                maybe...

Maybe, it could be for an EKII and to commemorate the awarding of his EKII, a special presentation cigarette case? I have seen cigarette cases presented by fellow officers etc, or family to commemorate the awarding all sorts of medals as well as events. Just a thought, as a cigarette case was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the box.

No. It's just a pimped out old jewelry or cultery case.

I have visions of various eBay scumbags trolling German flea markets looking for any manner of old case (jewelry, cutlery, pocket watch etc.) that they can transform into a 100-200 Euros EK presentation case. The result, as has been stated is that 99% of these so-called presentation cases are pure fantasy.

I've also seen pocket watch glass domes transformed into the much sought after EKII glass domes.
