    1870 ek2 question

HI ALL CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THE 1870 EK2 EVER CAME WITH NON MAGNETIC CORE??

    #2
I'm not aware of any, and if there should be some, they are not awarded one, but later replacements. But I'd rather not touch them...

IMO is impossible, all the core are iron cast made and no marking mark on ring.

Actually AWS used stamped steel to make 1870 EK3 in the later 19th C. In the early 20th C., some 1870 EK2s had either 800 or 925 stamped in the ring.

I wouldn't rule out a legitimate, later replacement piece with a non-magnetic core without seeing photos.

I was expecting it (the cross) to look worse than it does. That
being said, The ribbon is a modern fake. The spange is nothing
like I have seen before. The whole thing is a put-together mess.

I would like to see much better close up shots of the core details.

Close-ups of core. This is the best I could do with the existing pics. The cross is being sold as a replacement from the 1920s; a convenient cover for all kinds of ills.

Not one piece on that set is worth having in my opinion. I wouldn't even have it as a filler for free because it's just too fake and ugly.
                              Best regards,
