Mini chain to Vizeadmiral Franz Mirtl: LO RK, OEK 3Kl, MVK 3kl

Another long time search for a nice Leopold, Eiserne Krone and MVK mini is over. This is also my first item that can be attributed.

Franz Mirtl (1856-1927) also got the Commanders Cross to FJO 'Breast Star with War Decoration' and the EKII. One of the ships he captained was S.M.S. Kaiserin Elisabeth.

Amazing piece! Details on these crosses and krone are incredible - how large (small?) are they - about 2 cm, I guess?

Here's a short bio of your admiral, if you didn't find it yet:

Thanks Valter! Didn't know he was an author too. Will get some measurements when it arrives.

                      Fantastic addition Carl!

Wow - a really beautiful piece. Congratulations. There's something about minis and this is a classic example of a reasonably affordable and highly collectible area of our hobby.

Thanks! It came from eMedals and provenance is from a Dorotheum auction in 2003.

Hard to shoot Gold items without getting overexposed areas, hence the slightly dark pics.

Eiserne Krone has a strip of Iron set inside the base, just like the standard size ones. No maker nor Goldmarks anywhere.

Biggest surprise was the 'Signum Laudis'. Super quality stamped Gilt Bronze, head of FJ is frosted wlile the rest is polished.

MVK is made of Silver and got white enamel on the back.
