    1914 EK2 with 1813-1870 ribbon? - Opinions please.

I just picked this one up on eBay. It's described as one solid piece with an unusual wider ribbon. Actually it was the ribbon that really interested me as I've seen these displayed together with 1813 and 1870 EK2s.

So I'd welcome your comments and opinions on both the ribbon and the EK. Thanks.

    Best,

    Alex

it is possible that the ribbon is coming from a 1813 stock,

especially if the ribbon is indeed wider as normal .
    fore the cross ,,,,,,,,,
the cross is off a type that is normally stamped cd

Sorry, i can't add anything about the ribbon, but I see the cross very crudely assembled - as both pieces of frame were off-centered and some points and corners look poorly finished. Especially second picture. Would such a cross pass german quality inspection? I think not, but it looks old, so maybe it's a rejected piece used for some display or decoration purpose?

Ugly crosses need love too. <3

I can't comment on the ribbon, but I think it is a really interesting looking cross.

I received the ribbon and it certainly feels old and looks aged and faded, it doesn't glow under a black light and it's also starting to fall apart as shown by some noticeable tears. (Btw, that's my 1870 EK2 type A in the first pic).

The silk material also shimmers much like the ribbon found in Previtera's The Iron Time (first edition), on page 36. Last but not least, while I was measuring the ribbon in comparison to 1:1 photos of actual 1813 examples in Heyde's Max Aurich collection book, I noticed traces of a dark powdery substance emanating from the ribbon which further indicates to me that it may be deteriorating.

All of the foregoing leads me to believe that this ribbon may have been produced during the 19th century. Of course I can't be sure but I sure would like to know if anyone owns a ribbon like this one. Thanks for your further input.

Here's another one of these odd crosses - perhaps a theater prop. And again it comes with what looks like an old 1813 stock wide ribbon. As ever I'd welcome your feedback and opinions, guys. Thanks.
