Imperial Military Merit Display

I tried to categorize my displays to be in groups. This is my last one and it includes what I call Military Merit. This would comprise of direct war efforts... I realize there is a Prussian Military Merit for women in there. If anyone thinks it doesn't fit let me know. From what I understand it is a military decoration.

It was awarded as for women as for men, but that is a non-combatant award (not for military merit per se, but rather for "around military" merit).

Yes, quite right. The Prussian War Aid (Help) cross is certainly NOT just a woman's award. I have an elderly 1870 vet who earned one. And I know of many other instances as well as it being awarded to men. Men who were not serving in the armed services directly -in 1914, but were valuable to the cause.

again, I agree with Borzadow...the owner of the riker cases says what goes in or not

You didn't ask for this advice but how about arranging the awards by state or county? The two Austria awards close by. The Bavarians together.....

This is the biggest problem in collecting awards... Even bigger than the money issue... How to get your collection on display to make (especially) you - the actual collector - happy about that.

Riker cases are ok, but still... I have tried to figure out how to do it and what size would be the optimum size for display, which material to use as a background but it is one god damn paradox...

If someone has found a good looking way to put your collection on display, please show that to us - maybe we (well... at least me...) can just copy that or try to make improvements to it - but at least I'd wish to get my collection to more better looking display than what they are now.

I did move the Austrian over and rearranged the case.. I initially put them together for aesthetics and didn't put as much thought into the index of them.

I agree Avensis... I like the Riker but you also can't display them upright since the medals either slide down or the white backing slides down if you attach the medals.. lol..

I wish there was a magic bullet on this one!

I use a picture frame with a back panel screwed onto it which holds everything securely in-between the glass and a thick cloth pad inside the frame. It works pretty well for me and can be displayed vertically.
