As most of you probably know, there were numerous revolutions which took place in Europe in 1848-49, so if you thought the occupy movement was something new, think again. In the grand duchy of Baden they called out the troops, who dutifully opened fire on their countrymen, a deed for which they were decorated with the so-called 'Brudermordmedaille', or the killing-one's-brother medal. The medal is not scarce, but I've never seen the document before I found this one on ebay.

It's interesting, Vince. At Thanksgiving I was speaking with a bunch of folks about the Occupy Movement, and I likened it to 1848 also. A small liberal protest spreads to many different countries, where aims are all similar but not identical. Various governments respond with different levels of force. It's very, very similar in many ways.Best regards,
