    1914 EK1 with "platypus pin"

    Hello to all,

I bought this 1914 EK1 today because I really like the hardware setup on the reverse. Does anyone have an idea who made the Iron Cross with the platypus pin? There are no markings on this cross. The catch reminds me of the half-round wire stock that Deumer used on their 1939 EK1s.

    Thank you & best regards,
    Tom

          Beaver Tail

I personally refer to these crosses as 'beaver tails' Micha may have coined that term years ago, I'm not sure who did, but that is what I've always called them. A very nice cross and a cross you don't see every day.

            Hi,

the Blued Core, Pumpkin crown variation, probably Zimmerman Ek1. That's usually marked with Silber, can also have a "sharp pin".

            See here
            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ghlight=silber

and here with the other crown and hinge block,

            Best regards,
            Michel

Nice classic blued core. I have one marked 930 for silver and one with the mark "silber". I would like an unmarked version also one of these days.
