I think the cores are a match and maybe Im making an assumption but I have only seen DOV crosses with this nut style and markings. I was mainly making comparisans in the DOV EK reference thread so I dont have any other sources than what is here. Has anyone ever seen anything else out there? ie other crosses that have this nut style that do not fit a typical DOV core?

I am not too familiar with all the ins and outs of the DOV crosses, but as far as I know the DOV is considered a retailer who sold crosses manufactured by others, and added their own nuts. So perhaps yours is an example with an early, or variant, DOV nut.

Thats how I understood it as well but it makes me wonder who manufactured these crosses because all the cores that I have seen are the same so were they only selling for one manufacturer? or was everyone just on the same sheet of music?

As a retail organization, I'm sure the DOV had contracts with preferred suppliers for a steady flow of items that officers would require. Perhaps they were even the exclusive buyer of this particular cross style. As with any contractual relationship the devil is in the details.
