Militaria or Colonial Sites in Qingdao/Tsingtao?

    Good Evening All!

I was just wondering if anyone here has ever visited Qingdao, modern-day Tsingtao, and could suggest some old German Colonial sites for me to see or any places to search for Colonial Militaria. I am currently living in Hong Kong, and am planning a visit there either at the beginning of December or in the Spring of 2012.

Even if you've never visited, I am sure someone must know some of the history behind Colonial Qingdao and have some suggestions. I will be bringing my camera

Thanks in advance, and best regards,

    Andrew

I ,for one, would love to see your modern photos of the colonial Tsingtau and the Kiautschou protectorate.

I understand that some of the old streets still have some European Style buildings. I think the Governor building is still there, but you will have to confirm.

The old fortifications, gun turrets and coastal defenses I believe are in areas that are part of the Chinese's current defensive parameter, and therefore off limits to civilians/foreigners.

I would recommend checking available tourist information that will tell you what IS open to visit from the colonial times.

And...if you go. Could you pick me up a bottle of the wine from the grapes they grow there. I understand they have vineyards in the hinterlands near by and they make a nice white wine. Can't find it here and none of my outlets carry it.
