I wonder if anyone can identify any of the numerous markings on this 1911 dated PO8 Holster. The regimental markings are of particular interest to me. The initials J.W.G and 116 appear on the outside of the holster. There is a very unusual arrangement on the the inside of the flap, perhaps for a cleaning rod? Any history on the regiment itself and the purpose of the leather strap and pocket ,would also be greatly appreciated. Regards, Simon

Can you give us the Berlin maker's name that is stamped into the inside of the flap? I can't quite make it out.

        Thanks,
        Chip

Hi Chip, many thanks for your message. The maker is PAUL WARNEST, BERLIN N

I now beleive the regimental markings may be for Field Artillery Regiment 11 and that the the later leather additions are an inter war period modification to take a cleaning rod. Regards, Simon
