Bar with EK2 & Hohenzollern Medal

Thought I would share this one.

The Houseorder of Hohenzollern medal looks like someone tried to clean it at one point but it is not damaged.

What were these issued for anyway ?

The EK2 is actually really nice...very bold detailing and well made.

Very nice bar. The silver merit medal was associated with the house order, and was given by the principality of Hohenzollern both for military and civil merit. Not a common medal to find on a bar. I particularly like the swords device on the ribbon.

Is there a mark on the ring of the EK2? This type is generally considered to be a WWII second-piece type.

Which is odd on a WW1-era/pre-1934 bar... I'd possibly change it for an awarded one.

Thanks for the comments guys...there is no maker marks on the ribbon ring that I can see.

Appreciate the lesson about this medal.

I doubt I will swap it...I am sure it has a story all its own and this is how I found it.
