Identify mm symbol on Baden medal of Merit

I have this 1917 silver Baden medal that has a nice looking makermark on the rim.
Is it known who´s mark this is?

I noticed that on my Silver Merit Medal as well. I've wondered since I got it what that symbol meant.

This is the 1908 modell of the Baden merit medal, awarded until end of WW in november of 1918. It was struck in solid silver until mid 1916 in Baden's state nmint (here) in Karlsruhe.

The demand was to high for the mint, so they outsourced the coinage of these medals to B. H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt in Pforzheim. They did not struck in silver, but in iron, bronze and zinc that was silvered. All these "unedle" medals have this mark. I don't know what it does symbolyze, only what it means. You will never find this mark on a real silver medal.

There are other "unedle" medals that do not bear the mark. These are inofficial private purchase medals. They also lack the designer's signature "R.M." and are often found on a normal ring instead of this unusual, Baden typical suspension.

Mine is magnetic so that would make it a iron medal from B H Mayer made in 1916-1918. Nice.
        Thanks for the help saschaw.
