German leather protection helmet for a horse

I would appreciate your comments about the item I bought over the weekend.
It is a leather protection helmet for a horse.
I googled on internet but I could not find more info about it.

Is it a rare item ,or am I wrong ???

    Thanks in advance.

Thinking about it ,you might be right. It can be a muzzle for a horse.
The wholes are to close to each other to be meant for the ears.
Does anybody has maybe a picture which shows this kind of muzzles ??.

                Thanks
                Marcel

I do not believe it has anything to do with a horse. Of course if it does, I would relish seeing a video of someone trying to mount it on a horses head.

Could it be for a dog?

I think it is german because the stitches are done the german way.
It is too big for a dog.
Muzzles for horses excist. Even today they use them.

Go to google.com , type in "muzzle for horses" and go to pictures.

They only thing I would like to see is a pictures from WW1 with a muzzle.
