    Imperial German shoulder Boards

    Hello everybody:
I went to the KC Show, and picked up a couple of odd shoulder boards I can't ID. I wish I could post a photo, but no scanner. Maybe someone can tell me about them anyway.
First is an officers with the silver and black intertwined braiding with two gold pips. the underlay is that carmine pink, like a WWII fireman's. It's a slip-on single. What is it?
Second is an enlisted, with chain stitched in gold "KR" intertwined. Red velvet like fabric with navy blue underlay. Gold crown above the initials. I think the guy said it was from the "Koenig Karl Grenadiers."
Anybody want to take a stab at what I got? (Cheap.)
    Thanks for the help,
    Chris Werner

The officer board is a full colonel, with the very thick silver braiding with black "chevrons" interspaced about every half inch of braiding. the braids are very large, and the board is much larger than a WWII officer's board. Two gold pips.

COULD be General Staff... but as you note, could also be Feuerwehr, which kept Prussian style "V"s into the Third Reich.

      Gotta see pix!!!

I should be spending my $$ on a digital camera instead of odds and ends!
I don't think these are T.R. They are HUGE, bigger than T.R. General's Boards, and very heavy. If I had to guess, maybe General Staff?!

            Hey Rick:

I went to Ken Greenfield's Site to look at his Imperial Board selection, and after due observation, my money's on the Board being Prussian General Staff, probably from an overcoat. It is about twice as wide as a Third Reich Board.
The cording is exactly like that used on the Oberst Boards he had for sale, with thick rope like cording with black chevrons interspaced. Large gold pips, identical to Ken's.
The underlay is that electric pink, which I assume is General staff, or Fire. This board looks too fancy for Fire to me. Definitely not a Third Reich Board.
Has anyone ever heard of the Koenig Karl Grenadiers?

Don't rely on what is presented THERE as "fact" or correct!

King Karl Grenadiers were Württemberg regiment 123, but whether your design and colors match, I dunno because pre-WW1 enlisted straps are out of my knowledge.

Thanks Rick. I appreciate your help, and one of these days, I'll post some pics.

Took me a few seconds to realize who Ken Greenfield is, and I wholeheartedly second Ricky... Use that site for viewing pleasure, not as a resource...

That seems to be the consensus around here! What is your opinion re: my inquiry about Oberst Boards with the M1910 large bullion cords with black chevrons and that "electric pink" underlay? General Staff or Fire? I do think they are Prussian. The cording looks identical to the Prussian Boards I've seen on other sites, too, and they are very large and heavy.
                    Thanks Vadim and Rick,
                    Chris

I spoke with the seller today. He picked these items up from a German relative in Kassel. He was out at lunch when I bought the items, and his assistants were more into TR than Imperial.
He was very helpful and cooperative, a BMW sales mgr to boot. The Koenig Karl Board is as Rick said, the 123 Wurttemburg Rgt. The Oberst Board is a M1910 Prussian General Staff. He is having his relative try to find the other one, but thinks it might have been tossed by his Grandmother by accident.
He also has two Reserve Beer Steins that he is considering selling that he wants me to take a look at. I'll try to post them with the help of my secretary and her trusty digital camera.
Thanks to Rick and Vadim for helping me out.
