Really, really interesting. Reminds me of this famous Jubilee cross:

        ...the subject of this thread.

So where did you find that catalogue?
        Best regards,

                  Hi,

But is it dated? Are there more medals/pages on it which could pin the production date of this infamous cross?

                  Best regards,
                  Michel

I see nothing past 1897 on that page. Perhaps some ice cream to ad to that pie. Always makes it taste better.

I hate to admit it but it looks like the cross and catalog might be a match.
We must remember however that not all catalogs showed faithfull reproductions of their offerings .

True Greg but why would they have dreamt up that ugly hump/ring attaching system?

                            Why not? Patriotic displays.

I agree -- you don't imagine and draw a feature that has never been a part of any other EK in history in a catalogue. Personally I think we are looking at a drawing of this jubilee cross.

I wonder if anyone has seen an 1813 EK with this odd frame and ribbon ring attachment? It could be the reverse of the 1870 EK. Although it is in a strange position for a reverse picture in a catalogue, admittedly... and no one prints reverse pictures anyway.
